HQ Beach Lounge a study in perfection
You cannot help but be impressed as you walk through the elegant entrance of the newly-opened HQ Beach Lounge at the northern end of Kamala Beach and into the heart of the club itself. You’ll be stunned by the natural beauty of this spot, one of the most beguiling in all of Phuket. You’ll find yourself looking west across perfect sands into the gently susurrating Andaman Sea with the scarlet sun setting framed by massive vaulting Casuarina trees. To your right is a beautiful headland with a magnificent Thai-styled villa complex, redolent of a setting from a James Bond movie.
You are greeted with friendly smiles and cold towels by the club staff who whisk you to a seat at the long, curving bar beneath a huge stretched sail. A dizzying array of classic and local cocktails, icy-cold local and imported beers and a wide selection of wines by the glass are waiting your delectation, while the wine cellar boasts an impressive selection of old and new world labels and champagnes.
A clue to the elements of style, elegance and good value that run throughout the recently-launched lounge is that it is managed by the Twinpalms Group who are past-masters of resort, restaurant and Beach Club innovation in Phuket.
It was they who pioneered Phuket beach club life through their iconic beach club on Surin Beach and many echoes from that much-loved venue can be found in the new HQ Beach Lounge.
HQ is one of the few outlets in Phuket which offers direct access to the beach, so that strollers can walk in off the sands. The club offers both under-cover and on-the-beach dining with the food menu presented pictorially on an iPad.
Eclectic options, such as smoked salmon scrambled eggs, seabass carpaccio, codfish yellow curry and Japanese-style poached eggs served with teriyaki sauce, French beans, rocket salad, baby spinach and buckwheat grain are all superb and just right for light, healthy ocean-side dining.
You can relax on cabanas, sofas, seats, stools or the mats by the beach while enjoying the chill-out music played by live DJ every day from about 18:00, while weekends feature live sax, drummers and fire juggling entertainment.
Exciting developmental plans are slated for this corner of Kamala Beach as Twinpalms are working with Mont- Azure to develop luxury condos and villas overlooking the beach and a new Hilton Hotel is planned to open here in 2017.
Clearly HQ will become a prime social center of this burgeoning area of fun and activity and will establish itself as one of the island’s trendiest locations.HQ Beach Lounge Phuket
