When my wife said she wanted a good value Sunday Brunch, but without the hassle of Phuket’s traffic, where our two children would be entertained and happy, I knew this was a potential banana skin waiting for me to fall flat on my face. Then a stroke of genius struck.
I’d heard that brunch at Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Hotel offered wonderful comfort faire, at exceptionally good prices, with several swimming pools and stunning ocean vistas, and we wouldn’t have to engage with Phuket’s febrile traffic to get there.
The lovely Pullman Resort overlooks sparkling Makham Bay, with white sandy beaches and three lovely swimming pools, plus every brunch comes with full use of the resort’s wide array of facilities and kid-friendly activities to keep our little ones amused.
Our family arrived in fine fettle, parents relaxed after our easy journey along the wide, quiet roads and the kiddies having had no time to get bored were thoroughly excited about their impending afternoon of great comfort food followed by swimming, building sand castles, enjoying treasure hunts and the like.
The resort is located on Cape Panwa, which is a charming quieter promontory in Phuket’s southeast, just 15 minutes from Phuket Town.
Our gang sauntered down to the open sala brunching area beside the glimmering aquamarine swimming pools overlooking the bay with its verdant headlands.
Cool DJ sounds filled the air and our little two rascals let fly with whoops of delight when they saw the array of salads, burgers, pizzas, pastas and chef-prepared noodle dishes waiting for their ravenous attention. I warned them to leave some “tummy space” for the delicious bounty of desserts…..not that it did any good!
Madame and I kicked back with chilled rose wine, served by-the-glass and the brunch took off with a swing.
After about an hour, the kiddies were splashing about in the pools and Madame had fallen asleep on a lounger in the vaulting shade of a palm tree. This allowed me to craftily enjoy a tipple from the Happy Hour drinks menu, just 190 baht ++ from 1 to 3 pm.
As I sat there with my Watermelon Gold cocktail (refreshing and naughty in equal measure) I realised what a lucky man I was to have such a lovely and relaxed family with whom to share such quality time…..and to have discovered the wonderful Pullman Panwa Beach Resort’s Sunday brunch.
Sunday Brunch is 550 baht++ for adults and half price for children, with under twelve years free
