You’ll find plenty of beauty and plastic surgery clinics in Phuket, but not many match Jungceylon Clinic, which is under the supervision of Dr. Piyapas Pichaichanarong, who has a surgical career of over 20 years.
Tell us about your background
I’m from a family of surgeons so I’ve been nurtured with medicine and surgery. I graduated from the Department of Biochemistry at Chulalongkorn University where I then studied at the Faculty of Medicine. I then studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, focusing on plastic surgery.
I’m from Bangkok but visited Phuket when invited by a senior fellow with a long experience here. He introduced me to the opportunities here and opened my eyes to how hospitable this island is.
Working here made me realise there are many patients from Western countries, so I went to the US to study, work and gain more experience. I am an active member of several surgeon societies such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
What are the services at Jungceylon Clinic and how do you stand out from the competition?
We offer all minor plastic surgeries such as Rhinoplasty, Eyelid Surgery, Facial Implants, Dermal Filler and Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Hair Transplantation.
My personal interest is hair transplantation, I think it’s amazing people can now get back their hair back. There are two types of operations: FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) – removing a small strip of tissue from the back of the head which typically allows for the greatest number of grafts to be transplanted in a single session, and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) – extracting hair follicles from the back of the neck using a specialised extraction instrument and using a powerful stereo microscope to implant groups of one to four hairs. Hair transplants today look more natural than before.
All our staff are professional, we recruit only certified nurses and assistants.
Our outstanding point is the delicate service and care we give our customers, the sincerity in discussing what they want and what fits them well, and the atmosphere that makes them feel relaxed and comfortable.
What challenges are there working in Phuket and what have you learned from them?
Jungceylon Clinic debuted in Phuket 13 years ago. I was and still am excited to work here, it allows me to explore new cases from different nationalities, anatomies and trends.
After years of aesthetic and plastic surgery reconstruction experience, I learned different trends and needs that can be applied to the diverse cases I see in Phuket. For example, Asian people request a more pointed nose while westerners want to reduce the size of their noses. Difference of anatomy is also key. Some cases from western countries are rare cases in Asia such as breast reduction surgery (reduction mammoplasty).
Though the request of the customer is key, for each case, I personally design and suggest the best matching shape and size based on facual structures to meet with their request for the optimum result.
