Soi Dog launched its education program
The workshop, held under the concept “Humans Protecting Animals, Animal Protecting Environment”, was attended by teachers and executives from the four leading schools un-der Phuket Municipality; Banbangneaw Municipal School, Wat KajornRangsan Municipal School, Plookpanya Mu-nicipal School and Piboonsawasdee Municipal School. The activity also supports the Ministry of Education’s policy of “Moderate Class, More Knowledge”. It is also hoped that the knowledge and understanding provided by teachers to students will also be spread through the local community.
“Nurturing children about morals through educational in-stitutions is a great way to make them have a proper atti-tude towards animals and the environment, especially with pets like dogs and cats. I hope teachers and executives at this workshop will bring experience, knowledge and un-derstanding to their students to make a creative learning process to make a change in action,” said Mayor Somjai.
Meanwhile, Education Coordinator for Soi Dog Founda-tion, Nuttawut Kum-Ngern explained that the municipality has cooperated with the foundation as both of them see this workshop as a sustainable solution by nurturing the younger generation.
“Regarding the issues about stray dogs and cats in Thai-land as well as in Asia, Soi Dog and Phuket Municipality have agreed that a permanent and sustainable solution is to share knowledge to children about animals and the en-vironment. People who play a key role in this are teachers and school executives who can make students understand and feel empathy about the animals, especially dogs and cats,” he said.
