Alcohol consumption in Thailand
Consuming alcohol is generally accepted in the country, though it is subject to specific regulations which some people may find surprising. For example, it is only possible to sell alcohol from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 12:00 midnight, except for hotels, which can sell alcohol 24/7. It is also forbidden to sell alcohol during the three official Buddha days in the country, and most restaurants and shops will stop selling during other important bank holidays. Finally, while it is allowed to drink alcohol outside, you may want to refrain from getting inebriated at the beach, where controls happen often.
