Phuket tourism representatives announce projects to revive the industry

A tourism press conference titled ‘Finally We Meet Again!’ was held yesterday (June 9) at the Jungceylon Shopping Mall on the first day of Phuket’s beaches re-opening, since all beaches across the island had been locked down with regards to the COVID-19 situation.

The Phuket’s branch of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, alongside Patong Municipality and Phuket Tourism Association, announced their joined project ‘Phuket Great Time’ (www.phuketgreattime.com), which is a channel where local tourism-related businesses can promote themselves. In addition, the team also revealed their tourism promoting plan throughout this green season.

Napasorn Kakai, said that the website will be available from June 15 onwards and the team mentioned that there have been more than 80 tourism-related businesses that are ready to offer their products and services online with cash coupon, discounts, gift vouchers, souvenirs and more through the purchases from the website. The website welcomes all tourism-related business that are legally registered, free of charge.

Meanwhile, the President of Phuket Tourism Association, K. Bhummikitti Ruktaengam, added that there will also be a sale promotion ‘Phuket Discovery Card’, which is a gift cards for special hotel rates. There are four types of cards, including Silver (THB 1,290), Gold (THB 2,590), Platinum (THB 3,990) and Pool Villa (THB 7,990). These cards are valid for two-night stay including breakfast in selected hotels and resorts.

Phuket Tourism Revives Industry - 002The association will manage the sale of the gift cards and will transfer the income to each hotel on the 5th of the following month. The association will also deduct THB 100 from each gift card purchase to fund the medical supplies to local hospitals. The gift cards will be out on sale from June 15 to September 30, 2020.
