On October 2, 2019, Governors from six Andaman provinces gathered at the press conference of the Tour De Andaman 2019, which is a cycling tour and competition in six provinces, including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun, and Ranong, with celebrity cyclists as special guests.
The event was chaired by Phuket Governor, K. Pakkapong Tawipat, and some performances were representing the six provinces on stage, followed by a talk with the governors who explained about the highlights of their province the cyclists should never miss. The activity is aimed to promote eco-tourism and sports in each area while also connecting the tourism route of the 6 provinces.
This event offers two types of activity, which are racing and touring. The touring starts the route in Phuket on October 5, 2019, with a 28 kilometers distance, then moves to Ranong on October 6, for 24 kilometers, followed by Phang Nga on October 19 for 46 kilometers, Krabi on October 20, for 30 kilometers, Trang on October 26, for 26 kilometers, and then ends with Satun on October 27, for 29 kilometers.
The race will be held from October 31 to November 3, from 7.30 am onwards. This race will use road bikes with four different stages spread on four days. The first stage is Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi on October 31, with a distance of 143 kilometers. The second stage is Krabi and Trang on November 1, with a distance of 127 kilometers. The third stage is Trang and Satun on November 2, with a distance of 148 kilometers and the last stage is Ranong, with the remaining 10 kilometers.
“The touring option of The Tour de Andaman 2019 allows the cyclists to observe at least twelve main attractions in the six provinces as well as to try the delicious local food from each province. For the race, the competitors will also look at the beautiful scenery of the different landscape in each province,” said Phuket Governor.
