During the month of June, The Guide Phuket boarded the stunning Secret, a 50 feet catamaran for an adventurous day trip to Banana Beach, on the island of Koh Hey, also known as Coral Island.
Koh Hey, known in English as Coral Island, is a small stretch of land located 15 minutes from Phuket via speedboat, or approximately 40 minutes if you choose the option of a luxurious catamaran, as we recently experienced.
The departure was set from the Kan Eang at Pier restaurant, in Chalong, where we were briefed to various security measures. In addition to their standard safety instructions, we received additional information with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, their boats are only loaded with 50% passengers, to increase social distancing on board.
A short walk to the pier led us to the Secret, a stunning 50-feet catamaran with plenty of space to relax while we were gently sailed to Coral Island.
Once you arrived on the island, you are free to explore and partake in the various activities that are available to you. Some of these activities are included in your package, such as snorkeling and kayaking the shore with a transparent kayak, allowing you to see the fish and corals from the safety of your embarkation.
Other activities incur an additional fee, such as ziplining, banana boat, and parasailing. We chose to spend a great amount of time on their Bali swing, which lets you run from the side of a cliff. Wild sensations guarantee!
At the center of the island, you will find the main restaurant, which serves traditional Thai food alongside refreshments. Again, you will have to refer to your package to check what is included and what is charged extra.
After lunch, why not spend some time on the beach chairs and work on your tan? It is always good to take the time to relax from all those activities and enjoy the sun for a few hours.
Before we even realized, it was time to go home, and we boarded our wonderful catamaran for a trip back to Chalong Pier. A few Instagram pictures later, we disembarked safely and said goodbye to our lovely tour guides, who were always on hand should we need any information during our tour.
As mention earlier, the company offers several tours and packages, from the half-day island hopping to a full-day adventure with activities included; the best is to contact them directly to make sure the expedition you choose is the one you will enjoy the most!
